Genericized Trademark

During a conversation recently, someone asked me what would be my goal as a software guy. Told him about this dream of building some great software that would be synonymous with its functionality. The way people are no more searching, but googling. Coming to think of it, I was curious about what people would feel upon reaching such a state. Was thinking I would feel proud if ever to make it, but decided to read around and see what people who actually attained that state feel. Apparently, Google does not appreciate its trademark going into such derivatives. Why? This whole list of trademarks which eventually lost its relevance and legal rights as trademarks might give an answer – ::answers(Genericized Trademark)::

At the peak of success, when you outdo what you have set to do, you can no longer hold on to the name!
