“Acha, what does panja mean?” – asks my daughter of three
Panja means 5, I say, slightly confused about what might be the context
She is silent for a moment and then asks “what does basinda mean?”
Now am lost. Hmm… I don’t know. Where did you hear that?
“Teacher told us.”
Basinda?
“Yeah..”
What did she say? Am thinking this must be a name in some story.
“She was singing. Panja-basinda-gujara-thamaratha”
Well, that basinda… *weighing my option between making up something or explaining the concept of states to her*

i guess, explaining the concept of states would be the better option
But you are in more trouble, dad.
Sindh is no more a state. Then you will also have to talk a bit about partition and Indian Independence. Well, that might require shedding some light on colonialism. And maybe you can touch upon the Industrial revolution a bit and all…
@mayur,
What do I say except you’ll know better when you have one
@sini
Just told her those are “places”. This is where OO concepts like abstraction help.
